In Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Report this month the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) encourages the conservation of leatherback turtles on Bougainville after a survey recorded 46 turtles.

The leatherback turtle is an endangered species with global numbers declining by 95 per cent in the last 30 years.

And Pacific Parliamentary Champions on HIV AIDS challenge youths and sports people to act responsibly and prevent unplanned pregnancies, HIV and sexually transmitted infections at two upcoming regional events.

Hundreds of people are expected to meet for the Pacific Youth Festival in Fiji in July and the Mini South Pacific Games in the Cook Islands in September.
