In Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Report this month, we bring you the second part of an interview with the Secretary General of the Forum Secretariat Neroni Tuiloma Slade on the outcome of the recent Forum Leaders Summit in Cairns.

Leaders have agreed to commence negotiations on PACER Plus and have asked Forum Trade Ministers to discuss a framework for the agreement no later than November this year.

The Cairns meeting also discussed for the first time gender and sexual based violence and acknowledged the urgent need to recognise the prevalence of this form of violence in the Pacific.
