COVID-19: Majority of Fijian passengers back from India cleared of virus
01:53 am GMT+12, 20/07/2020, Fiji

Majority of Fijians, who returned on the Garuda Indonesia flight GA 8820 from India on 01 July, have been cleared of COVID-19.

This was confirmed by Minister for Health and Medical Services Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete.

The flight carried 107 Fijians and eight tested positive during their quarantine period in a Government-funded facility.

Dr Waqainabete said the eight active cases in isolation at the Nadi and Lautoka facilities remained well and were also being well looked after.

“We are grateful for the work that our frontline staff have been doing and continue to do,” he said.

“This is a combined effort by members of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, airport staff, hotel staff and many others,” said Dr Waqainabete.
